The NHRA Safety Safari has been dedicated to the safety of the drag racing community since its inception in 1954. Continual improvements to trackside policies and procedures have, and will, afford us all a better racing environment. Along with increasing speeds and the need to organize a large number of race cars, as part of the Safari’s evolution, the concept of a Top End Director (TED) emerged to safely manage traffic at the top end of the strip.
